
Heat pumps run on electricity, and electricity costs more per unit than gas. Heat pumps are typically three to four times more efficient than gas boilers, but electricity can cost three to four times more than gas. That single fact has been used as an argument against low-carbon heating more than once. It misses the point of what fabric-first design is actually for.
